Donors Share Their Passion for ShareCare—Betsy Wilson, President
| ShareCare, which is available to all Leelanau
County residents, strives to improve the quality of life for its members. There
are many ways you can help ShareCare meet the needs of its
membership: |
|
 | Financial Support: Dues, enrollment fees, and fundraising events
cover about half of ShareCare's budget, with the other half coming from the
generous donations we receive. Memorials, honorariums, and stock
transfers are hugely important
to our operating budget. Keep in mind that donations can be made
in lieu of flowers, in honor of a birthday/marriage, in memory
of a loved one, or in celebration of an anniversary. |
|
 | Volunteering: Much of what ShareCare offers
its members is provided by volunteers. The stronger our
volunteer base, the better we can serve our members. Volunteers drive members to
appointments, they are friendly visitors, or they provide an
occasional meal to a member who is feeling under the weather. |
|
 |
Equipment: Donated durable medical equipment such as bath benches, commodes,
and wheel chairs get passed on to members. Not only does
this help our members, but it saves Medicare monies and keeps
re-useable items out of a landfill. |
|
 | Joining: One of the easiest ways to support
ShareCare is to join! |
|
|
|
In
order to secure the future of ShareCare and keep doing what we are
doing even more effectively and efficiently the Development and Fundraising Committee
anticipates launching the
following programs: |
|
 | Publicly acknowledging our consistent and
most magnanimous donors. |
|
 | Publishing an annual report, listing all
donors. |
|
 | ShareCare Neighbors Forever: Those who make
cumulative gifts of $5,000 or more over the years. These donors,
listed annually, remain on this published list in perpetuity. |
|
 | ShareCare Circle of Friends: Those who pledge
$500 or more every year to sustain our organization. |
|
 | ShareCare Legacy Society: Those who are
grateful for ShareCare's positive influence in their lives, and want
to ensure that others may benefit from ShareCare's assistance in the
future. In a simple, positive way to acknowledge gratitude, Legacy
Society members include ShareCare in their wills |

A Welcome Letter From The Board Directors
Dear Neighbor:
We know that you are self-reliant and that you enjoy
living in your own home. We
also know that you’re not ready to give up your independence. But, like most of us, there are times when you could use some
help. Have you stopped
driving and need rides to the doctor or the grocery store? Maybe you
need help finding someone to cut the grass, shovel the snow, fix a
plumbing leak or do some electrical wiring. Maybe you just need a
friendly visit from a neighbor, to talk or have a good laugh.
ShareCare of Leelanau can help with all those things and
more. Founded as a
non-profit organization in 1993, ShareCare is an innovative program that
promotes independent living by providing assisted living services to
over 330 members—everything from household chores to social activities
to personalized healthcare. ShareCare members enjoy easy access to a
broad range of services delivered by experienced caregivers, trusted
local independent contractors and a caring network of volunteers based
in your neighborhood.
When health issues arise, ShareCare works closely with
each member's physicians and the health care providers they have chosen.
Our Care Coordinator visits the home to help the family with care
planning and can offer health-related recommendations that are
personalized to meet individual needs.
Let ShareCare help you remain independent and
comfortable in your own home by offering you easy access to the
programs and services available to you in your community.
Give us a call at 2531-256-0221. We’ll
be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Or, if you’d like, we’ll schedule a visit to your home to
discuss
the ShareCare program with you.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
ShareCare
of Leelanau, Inc.
